Thoughts and paintings by Jinnie May

On a visit to Paris and Avignon, France I really enjoyed all the carousels, hand painted with delightful horses, still in working condition with lots of toddlers waiting for a turn. I wondered what happened to the ones I remembered from my childhood.  I was sad that the US was missing this wonderful part of our past. However, on a recent outing to NYC and a visit to Bryant Park, there it was! Our very own carousel! This one is special with many different animals to ride, rabbits, cats, dogs ,goats and frogs. So charming and whimsical in a delightful setting right in the heart of NYC! I've since painted, not once but three times. Here's # 3. I hope it brings back good memories for you too!
