Some recent occurrences that happened in Florida inspired me to paint. I'm a avid reader as well as a prolific painter and a huge Disney fan. The thoughts of having certain books banned from school libraries for reasons that may offend some folks is , in my mind, is the wrong approach. A few Banned Book Clubs are springing up across America by kids in rebellion. My Olivia lives in Florida, she just an average kid who loves Disney and loves to read. The title is Olivia Happily Joins The Orlando Banned Book Club. The books piled up by Olivia are banned in many states, not just Florida. Note that Little Red Riding Hood is on the banned book list not because the wolf ate the grandmother but because little Red had a bottle of wine in her basket for Grandma. Well, critics thought that wine bottle would advocate childhood alcoholism. This logic is enough to make one drink! This painting is currently not for sale due to the Disney copyrights protecting their characters. At some point I may paint them out but for now Olivia will be happily reading the banned books this summer in New Jersey.
