"My Wildest Dreams" Sold (and how to ship)
Yesterday I received a check for this painting. My Wildest Dreams 60"h x48"w

This morning was spent removing it from the stretcher bars, rolling it up, building a box and taking it to the post office. It was quite a project. I thought you might be interested in some of the things I used. First I purchased this four-piece pick set by Husky from Home Depot.

I think an awl would work also but I didn't have one with a shape edge. I tried several of the angled hooks but none worked as well as the straight pick. Be sure to wear safety glasses as staples and the point of the pick could really do some damage.

There must have been over a hundred staples, I pried them up then removed them with pliers. Once removed I rolled the canvas around an empty wrapping paper roll, rolling the 48" side. Once rolled I wrapped the roll in Clingcover (also purchased a Home Depot) leaving about 4" on each end to tuck inside.

I then added the hanging screws and hardware along with plastic coated wire, placed in a plastic bag and put inside the roll. I kept the roll together with custom made" Thank you" sticker.
For the box, I measured the length of the roll and added 2". It measured 55" total. I previously purchased boxes 25"l x 4"w from Amazon.

I cut and taped three boxes to the length I needed, then closed it all up with white duct tape purchased from Walmart.

And there you have it!

Most of the items I used I had for other projects. Sounds like a lot of stuff and time but still way, way cheaper than mailing the gallery wrapped painting on the stretcher bars. The buyer will have the painting stretched. I'm off to the Post office on Monday, the painting is going from NJ to Idaho.
