watercolor process
Portofino II was created on Arches 100% ragmat rough paper with various brands of watercolor. After sketching the scene with a #2 graphite pencil, I wet both sides of the paper and semi-dried with a towel. I start with the greens, let them dry , then proceed.
while the paint is wet I drop in other colors, letting the watercolor work its wonders.
After adding the windows, shadows and more dark green, details such as vines, wires and tree trunks were added.
